Medicine
Dr. Viktor Andrew Ko was born and raised in Australia as the eldest child to Cantonese parents. He is a City of Perth Councillor, a former State Trauma Registrar at Royal Perth Hospital, and a dedicated advocate for accessible healthcare, contesting the seat for Curtin
Dr. Ko earned his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from the University of Notre Dame Fremantle (UNDF) and is an alumnus of UWA Rural Clinical School of Western Australia (RCSWA). As a student, he was a passionate advocate for rural health through the National Rural Health Students Network (NRHSN) and was awarded the John Flynn Scholarship (JFPP), gaining firsthand experience in regional healthcare across Geraldton, Albany, and Kalgoorlie.
Serving The Community
He began his medical career with a surgical residency at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital (SCGH) before transitioning to Royal Perth Hospital, where he further honed his expertise in trauma care. During the height of COVID-19, he stepped away from the hospital system to support the state’s vaccination efforts, playing a key role in protecting his community.
Council
For the past four years, Dr. Ko has represented Crawley and Nedlands on the City of Perth Council, where he developed a deep understanding of governance and community advocacy. His commitment to social justice led him to work with 'Homeless Healthcare', running clinics at Tranby Uniting, RUAH, and St. Bart’s. There, he witnessed the harsh realities of homelessness and saw firsthand the critical role of Medicare and bulk-billing in protecting the most vulnerable.
Ongoing work
During this time, he obtained his Fellowship with the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP) before returning to Royal Perth Hospital as a Trauma Registrar. Today, he serves as a trusted family doctor in the quiet suburbs of Wembley Downs, continuing his lifelong dedication to patient care and community well-being.
