My position
Rental E-Scooter Scheme
On 31 May 2022, at an Ordinary Council Meeting, I voted against proceeding to tender for rental e-scooters. My experience at Royal Perth Hospital, where we treated serious e-scooter injuries, made it clear that a rental scheme would increase harm.
My position
- Maintain the City-wide ban on rental e-scooter schemes.
- Permit privately owned e-scooters, with a strong emphasis on rider education, safety equipment, and responsible use.
Royal Perth Hospital refurbishment
Where things stand
- The State Government has pledged ~$104 million for RPH Emergency Department upgrades during the state campaign, and the 2025–26 Budget added planning funding for major health commitments.
- RPH redevelopment/modernisation will deliver major benefits for Perth’s east end, better emergency care, more jobs, and a stronger day-into-night economy around the hospital.
- The City of Perth is not the decision-maker but the City will be consulted on local impacts.
My position
- Support in principle for RPH redevelopment and ED upgrades.
- Work collaboratively with the State to maximise health, economic, and public-realm benefits.
Expand 40 km/h Speed Limits City-Wide
Where things stand
- The City consulted on expanding 40 km/h zones beyond Central Perth/Northbridge.
- Recommendation will be presented to council end of this year.
- Main Roads WA ultimately sets speed zones; Council’s decision will be a formal request subject to MRWA approval.
My position
- I Support expansion of 40 km/h limits across local streets to reduce harm, improve walkability, and support small business activation while keeping key arterials at higher limits where appropriate.
